We opened Banneton Bakery in 2015 with a view to elevating the craft of bread-baking and patisserie, to a level not seen before in Port Elizabeth.
At the beginning of 2017, the Paul family took full ownership of the Banneton brand, with Brad Paul at the helm. Brad has a passion for great-tasting food and the journey it takes to get to the plate is something that he is fanatical about. He studied at the South African Chef’s Academy and started his own mobile pizza venture shortly after graduating. After some years exploring other areas of business and other interests he, together with his then business partner, founded Banneton Bakery and Café.
The Banneton brand represents innovation and sustainability in its field, and prides itself on sourcing top-quality produce from local organic farmers.
Early in 2018 the Paul family introduced the sister brand, Pizzarella, into their fold – under the Banneton umbrella. Pizzarella is an already established brand – with locals and holiday makers alike – in the Kenton-on-Sea area of the Eastern Cape. Using the specialist artisan baking techniques which Banneton has become known for, and the variety of the Pizzarella menu, the two brands are a match made in culinary heaven.
Brad, Dale and Ros always provide a warm welcome to Banneton Bakery and Café and strive to make the Banneton brand one of the best in class in South Africa today.
